Jessica Bian

Jessica Bian is the PES President. She is a visionary leader and architect who has spearheaded the electric industry’s reliability metrics and grid-risk assessment. She is currently with Grid-X Partners. Before that, she was with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C. Previously, she was the director of performance analysis at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Under her leadership, a total of 18 industry-wide reliability indicators were established for the first time to determine grid reliability, adequacy, and associated risks. She is widely recognized as a pioneer and trusted world leader in the field. Before joining NERC, Jessica was with PJM, ERCOT, and Westinghouse Electric. She received her B.Sc. degree from the Taiyuan University of Technology, China, her M.Sc. degree from the Electric Power Research Institute, Beijing, China, and her Ph.D. degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. She has had more than 70 articles published, and she received the 2014 PES Wanda Reder Pioneer in Power Award for her technical achievements. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Jorge Lafitte

Jorge Lafitte Vega is a Mechanical Electrical Engineer from the National University of Engineering with a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Universidad del Pacífico, both from Lima, Peru. With a doctorate in Electrical Energy Systems from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has 15 years of experience in the electric power sector. He is currently Chief of Operations of the company Red de Energía del Perú of the ISA group, President of the IEEE Peru Section and Leader of the Southern Council of the IEEE PES Region 9.

Rafael Flores

Rafael Flores is a Electrical engineer from Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco, Perú, with a MSc. degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and PhD in Chalmers Technical University, Sweden. He also attended an Energy Management Systems specialization course in Georgia Tech, United States, and followed a General Management Program in CEDEP-European Center for Executive Development/INSEAD, France. Today, he is Chairman of PES Peru Section for 2019-2020; and he is Head of Customer Solutions – Solutions to Mining for Latam and Business Development for Networks. He owns a diverse experience in energy utilities in commercial, regulation, business development and services in electricity and natural gas. He also led many M&A.
